Jamberoo Yoga Retreat is held in a secluded sanctuary, in the hills of the south coast of NSW, just footsteps away from the Minnamurra rainforest, and not far from Kiama beach. Jamberoo Yoga retreat is an opportunity to embrace getaway and escape every day life. At Jamberoo Yoga retreat we offer a variety of Yoga, meditation and mindfulness classes each day, as well as a chance to wind down and relax with use of our swimming pool, gym, sauna, in a peaceful nature filled setting. We run ongoing Yoga retreats, including a variety of Yoga classes on offer per day. Guests are welcome to join a half-day, two, three, or a four day retreat, or to come and stay at resort and join drop-in classes at their leisure. Our classes are also open to locals in the area.

Our Retreats offer a variety of Yoga classes per day, accommodation at the Jamberoo Resort, use of all our wonderful facilities (pool, sauna, spa, gym), opportunity to book a massage or treatment at our Wellness centre as well as the chance to walk barefoot on the forest, lie on the grass and just Be.

Yoga Classes are welcome to beginners as well as seasoned yogis and offer the chance to flow, connect to movement, and embrace a present moment experience. You can join on with as many or as few classes as you would like.

Our Yoga Shala is located right next to our very own fresh-water creek, that is filtered as drinking water throughout the retreat. Retreats include a delicious array of vegetarian meals.

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of this land past, present and future. We would like to acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Straight islander people as the traditional custodians of this land, the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal clan, of this land that we are in, and pay our respects to the leaders past, present and future.

Yoga

Vinyasa

Vinyasa Yoga is a flowing practise that invites the practitioner to explore mindfulness by linking breath to movement. Vinyasa Yoga is dynamic and builds both strength & flexibility in the physical body through a sequence of movements, when you practise regularly. At Jamberoo we often work with the chakra system (energy centres present in the body) that can be revealed through the asana (physical poses), pranayama (breathing) and chanting mantra (repetition singing). With the awareness that everyone’s body is different the teacher will offer different variations in each form, so that you can modify the practise to suit you.

Restorative

Restorative Yoga is an invitation to rest and reset. With fast paced living very present in most of our lives, the chance to stop, rest and restore is very rare. Restorative Yoga uses props, pillows, and blankets used to bring the ground to you, supporting and holding you, while restful yoga forms are held for long periods at at time, allowing a shift in the parasympathetic nervous system, giving our bodies the chance to rest and reset. Restorative has many benefits including deeply relaxing the body, working into the parasympathetic nervous system, boosting the immune system, giving the body a big re-set.

Yin

Yin is a slower paced yoga which is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Yin holds poses for long periods of time, working with the Meridian System (energy channels of the subtle body). Yin Yoga can be seen as a meditation which aims to meet each pose at its edge. Yin Yoga targets the deep connective tissue between the muscles and the faschia throughout the body. This improves flexibility, circulation as well as reducing stress. Yin Yoga explores finding stillness in discomfort, which can be a useful tool in everyday life.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra or “sleep yoga” is an opportunity to find rest while exploring a state of consciousness between sleep & wake. Often in the form of a verbal guided meditation Yoga Nidra offers many benefits for the mind as well as body as it deeply relaxes and mimics the state of sleep.

We love to include a Yoga Nidra in the evenings right before bed-time to encourage a nourishing and restful sleep helping you to embrace your inner zen during your retreat experience!

Teach Yoga

Workshop or host a Retreat at Jamberoo

Jamberoo Resort is Illawarra’s newest Yoga hub, and we welcome all Yoga teachers to make this space your home – Jamberoo Resort has 10 acres of property available to you to teach classes, workshops and retreats.

We have a custom built yoga studio (30 mats) as well as a large hall with wooden floorboards (80 – 100 mats) and garden surrounding. We also have two large conference halls plus our own vegan restaurant.  We have 43 Hotel rooms available for accommodation and a swimming pool, spa and sauna available for the use of your guests.

We can’t wait to work with you to create your own ideal retreat package for you and your guests.

We welcome your input and can offer our space for you to;

  • Hold ongoing yoga classes / workshops ie Hire a studio / hall from us.
  • Bring students in for a day to eat at our restaurant, use facilities and we can offer you excellent hall hire rates.
  • Create the right combination just for you.

Whole Day Hall or Yoga Studio hire 9am – 5pm $500.

Use of facilities (pool, sauna etc) $25 per day,per guest.

Yogi Meals $25 per person per meal.

We can offer:

  • Accommodation for your group available at 10% discount of advertised price at date of your booking. We can host around 100 – 130 guests at our resort.
  1. – 3 x $25 Yogi meals per day, per person at our vegan restaurant with 10% discount on meal price for the retreat package.
  2. – FREE use of our Yoga Studio or Hall/s to run your Yoga classes when you book your group into our accommodation and meals.
  • Use of all resort facilities for your guests including pool, spa, and sauna with the accommodation bookings.
  • Massage treatments available. Please book ahead.

Be aware we are running a COVID SAFE space.

We will be providing temperature checks, and recording all guest details on arrival at the resort. We ask all guests to bring their own Yoga mat, and stay 1.5metres apart from each other.

Our Yoga Teacher Facilitators

Jana Bolt

Jana Bolt is an 800 hour trained Yoga Alliance facilitator. Jana gives thanks to her teachers for passing on their great knowledge of this ancient life tool of Yoga. Jana acknowledges her teachers Idit Tamir (Sukha Mukha Yoga, Bronte) Katie Rose (Samadhi & Jivamukti Yoga Newtown), their teachers Jasmine Tarkeshi (Laughing Lotus, NYC), Sharon Gannon & David Life (Jivamukti Yoga NYC), Maryanne Edwards (Organically Wealthy), Kristen Pringle and all the facilitators at TCTSY.

Jana believes that Yoga is for everybody, and strives to support this, by providing a safe and nurturing space where the practitioner can explore movement and mindfulness, and present moment experience. Jana acknowledges that everybody is different, and may be arriving from a different place each day, so her classes provide the freedom to modify the practice as needed.

Jana discovered Yoga in early adulthood. Through the mind, body connection that Yoga provided and exploring the ancient Yogic philosophies, Jana found a freedom that enabled her to be present, and welcome mindfulness, a valuable tool for the everyday ups and downs of life. Jana believes that Yoga is a tool which can assist in shedding layers that life has attached to our self, to uncover our true self and be able to live in harmony with ourselves and the world around us.

Jana is 300hr trained in Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and believes that Yoga, and movement are a powerful tool that can be used along with therapy in the treatment of complex trauma. Trauma Sensitive Yoga creates safe space for the practitioner to explore movement and connection of mind to body, in the treatment and recovery of trauma survivors.

Emily Buttle

Emily has been practicing yoga for over 20 years beginning with Ashtanga then experiencing Iyengar, Bikram and Vinyasa Flow until arriving at the Jivamukti Yoga studio in Sydney mid 2012.

Jivamukti Yoga instantly aligned and inspired five years of intensive study resulting in her 800 Hour qualification in 2017. Jivamukti Yoga is an integrated physically demanding method based on Ashtanga that incorporates asana, non-violence, music, meditation, philosophy & Sanskrit. Emily is a certified 800Hour Jivamukti Teacher.

She has taught ongoing yoga classes at a wide range of studios, community groups and yoga centres and also co- founded Dance Flow Yoga Studio 2018.

Emily is deeply passionate about the power of mantra and Bhakti Yoga. She and has studied Harmonium with Tribhuvanesh at the Hare Krishna Ashram, and leads Kirtan at local community events.
